It's time for Mondo Bummer #24. My cat is curled up in my lap, and it's no wonder: She's excited about Zack Tuck's book, Linty Love, and she wants to be as close as possible to the action as I announce its publication.

Visit Berl's at the Brooklyn Flea in Williamsburg. They are a featured vendor at the Flea.

Seems like they are mostly at the North 6th and Kent location in Williamsburg but you could always check their Facebook page for details.

Anyway, Berl's is highly recommended as a poetry shop in general. They have tons of amazing things besides MONDO BUMMERs. Including fingerless poetry gloves made by Farrah for outdoor poetry reading.

Now, thanks to the clumsiness of in-laws, it's smashed to pieces.

If I may add an anecdote:
One day, my daughter of three years was playing with a squirt gun in the house.
It was quite amusing, as she could barely get her chubbed hands around the damn thing.....cutie....Anyway....One day I found her by the TV, really close up, watching Barney or something, and playing with the squirt gun, shooting water within the TV's heat vents (You know some big 90's TVS had like these vents in the front to let out heat from the circuitry what have you). Anyway....I asked her to stop (stern "NO BABY, NO") and I guess she did stop when I was around, but one day, mysteriously, the TV stopped working. The only thing I could do was laugh my ass off.

The material things around me pass like the wind.
I try to hold things close to myself that really define who I am, which in my mind are only my thoughts, ideals, my friends, and family.

Cherish, and revel in the fact that the in-laws broke it with a smile.
You've still got the things of real value within yourself and around you.

PS. Make lots of backups...toddlers pull power cords.

They can break? We've got these foot tall PVC plastic(?) statues, one each of Pinky and The Brain and I thought they were pretty much indestructible, though I've never tested them out for destructo-ness.

I bought one for my wife for Xmas 1995 or 1996 and her friend bought her the other.

I feel for your loss.

Just to say..I have been looking for the resin ones which are about a foot tall and I came across this looking online...they are worth around $400 the pair on ebay. Hope yours were not resin

i have the pair both resin if any of you want pics i bought them from the warner bros store in the 90's i was gonna collect em all but they stopped producing them i was gutted as i rly wanted the marvin the marshian

In bed on Ash Wednesday

It never seems like we need to get up.

It’s cool—

we never even sweat.

We sit in chairs

In summer, popsicles melt

As the heavy full moon

We stay out late because

It’s always warm out

And in the middle

Of the day it’s just too hot

To move at all

A lone man at a red wooden table

The tea in the cup grows a skin

The milk in his tea

As white as a blanket

MONDO BUMMER is accepting submissions of poetry and very short stories.

We received a query about a manuscript of erotic haiku under the pseudonym Tori Spelling, and that is under consideration. We've got that covered, so at the present time, we're mostly interested in work that is not erotic haiku written under a fake name.

Work should be 1 - 5 pages long. Think of it as a very small (disappointing) chapbook.

MONDO BUMMER BOOKS is a small press that publishes poetry and fiction in a disappointing way.

Our books are not folded like books. Our books are very short: between 1 - 5 pages, printed on 8.5x11 computer paper, single-sided. Our books are stapled at the upper left-hand corner of the page and labeled by hand with any front-matter. They are folded and tucked into standard-size business envelopes.

Books are available via the MONDO BUMMER blog. The costs of books includes domestic shipping and ranges from $1 and $5

Submissions (1 - 5 pages, please) are always welcome.
